Lauren Taggart
Our community has lost a excellent clinician who was appreciated by her patients and was also a meticulous researcher. Dr. Monique Arlot, M.D. passed away on November 2, 2017. Dr. Arlot was among the first collaborators of Professor Pierre Meunier in Lyon, France. There she participated in research on various bone diseases, including osteoporosis and Paget’s disease of bone. She was an expert in bone histomorphometry, particularly the assessment of dynamic remodeling indices using tetracycline labeling, and performed the bone biopsies in the Department of Rheumatology of the Edouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon. Monique has been a member of the ASBMR for many years. We are thinking of her family and friends, and we send them our deepest sympathy. Guest lafage-proust
Monique Arlot trained many students, interns, researchers from all over the world who came to Pr Meunier's lab to understand the complex field of bone histomorphometry. I was one of them in 1991. The first contact was somehow rough, as probably, others experienced. But time passed by, and I discovered a fine and thorough scientist with strong pedagogic skills, a good clinician, trully concerned by her patients well-being, and a big sense of humor. So long Monique, we miss you. MH Lafage-Proust
Guest Luc Malaval
Monique has been a pilar of Pierre Meunier's, then Pierre Delmas' lab for many years. Rigorous and demanding in the practice of research, she was a reference in the field and contributed largely to the quality and reliability of the research output. A bold character, she also had a human and caring side that those who came to know her over the years could appreciate. Her passing away saddens me ; I will keep very fond memories of her.
